Xinyi Shopping District 信義區
The newest area of urban Taipei, the Xinyi shopping district is home to the famous Taipei 101, ATT4fun, the flagship Eslite bookstore, Neo19, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi Place, Breeze Songgao as well as other entertainment, shopping, and dining complexes.
Purchases made at select merchants such as Shin Kong Mitsukoshi are eligible for a tax refund for tourists.
The Xinyi District is most commonly known as the stretch of development between Xinyi Road and Zhongxiao East Road, in the area surrounding Taipei 101.
The Taipei City New Years Party is held in and around Xinyi District.
Take the Blue Line 5 to Taipei City Hall Station (市政府). The station is located beneath HanKyu Department Store. Walk south to enter the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi complex towards 101. Alternatively, take the Red Line 2 to Taipei 101 and walk northeast towards the complex.
Xinyi District previously was only serviced by one MRT line at Taipei City Hall Station, however, with the opening of the red line extension, the area gained one more station at Taipei 101.
Located adjacent to the Xinyi Shopping District is Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Dongqu (東區, East District).
Taipei City Hall Station along the MRT Blue Line 5 is located at the northern end of the complex, and Taipei 101 is located at the southern end.
A common meeting area for friends is outside the Neo19 and Vieshow cinema complex.
