Fu Jen University Fu-Da Garden Night Market 輔大花園夜市
The best food night market in Taipei. That's enough of a reason to go!
Huayuan Night Market (huayuan means garden) is a relatively new addition to the Taipei night market scene, and has focused itself on providing really good food at an affordable price. Picking up on where the old Shilin Night Market outdoor food court left off, Huayuan Night Market has a massive variety of traditional Taiwanese snacks, new concoctions such as an entire deep fried squid, several ping jia (平價, fair-priced) steak restaurants, and countless tea and drink shops.
Huayuan Night Market is great to visit because it hasn't been overly saturated by tourists yet, unlike Shilin Night Market or Feng-Chia in Taichung. Its sole focus is food, so come with an empty stomach!

Take the orange line Huilong Branch (迴龍) to Fu-Jen University Station (輔大). After leaving Exit 1, continue walking about 50 meters, then turn right onto Lane 514 of Zhongzheng Road (中正路514巷). Walk straight (including a quick right-left 3/4 of the way down) until you reach Zhongshan Road. Once you reach Zhongshan Road, cross the street and turn right. You should immediately see the night market.
By Taxi:
If you choose to take a taxi, the cost should be around NT$400 from the Taipei Main Station area. Tell the driver 輔大花園夜市 (pronounced Fǔdà Huāyuán Yèshì). If you feel you are fumbling through the Chinese, an eating hand motion should clue the driver in.
This market is most commonly called Fu-Da Night Market (輔大夜市, Fǔdà Yèshì) by locals. Fu-Da being a shortening of Fu-Jen Catholic University, or 輔仁大學 Fǔrén Dàxué.
This night market has several names due to translation and romanization issues. It may be called the following names: Fu-Jen University Flower Garden Night Market, Furen University Flower Garden Night Market, Fu-Jen University Huayuan Tourist Night Market, Furen University Huayuan Tourist Night Market, Fu-Da Night Market, Fu-Da Garden Night Market, and Fu-Da Huayuan Night Market, among other possible combinations of all of the above.
