Taipei Zoo 台北動物園
The largest zoo in Asia and home to Yuan Zai the panda, for animal lovers this is a must visit, easily accessible by public transit at the end of the MRT Brown Line.
The zoo was originally founded in 1914 by a Japanese citizen as a private zoological garden, and after the ROC relocation to Taiwan became a public zoo under the Taipei City government.
Yuan Zai (圓仔) is the first giant panda cub born on Taiwan, and she is usually called by her name in Taiwanese Hokkien, pronounced similar to "yǐ à".

Take the Brown Line 1 to the southern terminus Taipei Zoo (台北動物園).
It is recommended to enter the park via the Maokong Gondola (Taipei Zoo South Station) which brings visitors to the southern (and higher elevated) end of the zoo.
Taipei Zoo may also be referred to as "Muzha Zoo" (木柵動物園), as it is located in the Muzha area of Taipei City.
Tickets are purchasable by Easycard, the prepaid transit card for Taipei City, and is strongly recommended. The shuttle bus fare from Taipei Zoo South Gondola is NT$5.
