Why Should I Go?

Shulin Station is an interchange station located between Taoyuan/Yingge (鶯歌) and Taipei City.

Most visitors will recognise Shulin (樹林) as one of the terminal stations along the Taiwan Railways train network.

The train network runs as follows from Taoyuan to Taipei (travelling south to north):
Taoyuan (桃園) → Yingge (鶯歌), Local → Shanjia (山佳), Local → Shulin (樹林) → Fuzhou (浮洲), Local → Banqiao (板橋) → Wanhua (萬華), LocalTaipei Main Station (台北車站).

Visitors travelling from destinations north and east of Taipei such as Keelung (基隆), Yilan County, Fulong Beach (福隆海水浴場), Ruifang (瑞芳), Jiufen (九份), or Pingxi (平溪) are completely fine boarding a Shulin train, since Taipei is before Shulin.

Shulin is an industrial suburb between Taoyuan and Taipei, and its station is the main commercial hub of the area. The area directly surrounding the station is very busy, if not a little dangerous due to the high amount of traffic.

Since Shulin is home to a large amount of Southeast Asian labourers that work in Taipei and Taoyuan, there are lots of import and service shops around the area.

Visitors looking for Shilin Night Market (士林夜市) may confuse this station with the night market.
